I am in love with Sign Language. Ever since I was a little girl I have loved this language. It has led me to my fascination and slight obsession with hands. I have an ever growing collection of hands. I was inspired by the website www.skulladay.com and decided I needed to start my own 365 day project. It took me awhile to get the nerve up to start but I thought the best day to begin would be on my 30th birthday so thanks for joining me on this long and wild journey.

Needle Punch
Today's hand was done using Needle Punch. It is a tool that has embroidery floss running through it and at the end there is a needle that you punch in the fabric millimeters apart which make tiny loops on the other side. So you actually work on the wrong side. I haven't done it in a long time so I dusted it off and went to work.

It should have been my hand
Confession time... When I was younger, I wanted to marry Prince William. Younger? Who am I kidding, I thought we were holding out for each other which is why I have waited so long to get married (if you believe that, let me sell you a beach front property here in Utah)! Anyway, I think the new couple are so cute and adorable. This was to be my crown when the Prince took my hand in marriage. Well, there is still Harry!!!

Twiggy Hand
I have wanted to make this hand for some time now, just to make it, but never got around to it. This is the perfect time to make it. This hand was uncommonly difficult since my drill wouldn't charge itself. I think I ran my drill to its death building the chicken coop and fence. I ended up having to chisel out the holes to stick the "fingers" in. Anyways it turned out fine. Tidbit of fact: the wood I used was from the HUGE limb I sawed off our tree last year.

Tatted, but not Torn
This latest hand is tatted. Never heard of tatting? Well most people haven't. It is kind of a lost art but is in the same category as crochet. I learned how to tat a few years ago from a little lady from Austria. She was so cute. I haven't tatted in a few years so I thought I might have forgotten, but like they say, it was like "riding a bike". I remembered with no problem. I made up this pattern and if I had more time, I would have tweaked it a bit more but since I only had today, this will have to do. I love the teeny tiny one the most. It probably took less than a minute but was really fun to make.

Zippedy Do Da Hand
It seems like everything lately is made of or has an accsesory made of zippers. Well count me on the band wagon. I have made a few of these, in flower form, so it was just natural to add it to my hands list. The most impressive thing is, I made this hand at Red Robin with the fantastic company of Sheri, Shantell, and Shay. More to come tomorrow...

Happy Birthday to ME!!
It is day one!! Since this is my birthday, I thought it only appropriate that I make a cake. This is my favorite flavor... CHOCOLATE!! (I think it is a crime to waste calories on plain vanilla cake!) My crumb coat did not cover all the crumbs so it is a bit freckly but tasted great!! 1 down- 365 days to go (Yes I can count, this is a leap year! Great!!) See ya tomorrow.
