I am in love with Sign Language. Ever since I was a little girl I have loved this language. It has led me to my fascination and slight obsession with hands. I have an ever growing collection of hands. I was inspired by the website www.skulladay.com and decided I needed to start my own 365 day project. It took me awhile to get the nerve up to start but I thought the best day to begin would be on my 30th birthday so thanks for joining me on this long and wild journey.

Stepping Stone Hand
I shaped and made this stepping stone last night outside. I didn't have a hand shaped form (go figure!) so I formed wet sand into a hand shape and then poured the cement into that. I laid the rocks around the hand, I was going to use glass bobbles in too, but it just looked funny. Well, since I made this hand outside last night, and if you live in Northern Utah, you know we had a really bad rain storm last night. The instructions say not to move your stepping stone for at least 24 hours. Well, when the rain began to fall, it had only been a few hours but I had to move it. Needless to say, we had some phalange fatalities. All but the thumb broke off. I will try to glue or cement them back on and possibly try another one later. Anyways, it was still fun to make and is now waving proudly in our weed, I mean, flower bed.
